Wraparound Hardwood Deck

A holiday home at Whale Bay that needed a deck worthy of the view. The existing space was a small platform off the main living area; the owners wanted something that wrapped the home and gave them a proper indoor-outdoor flow.

We built a 70 square metre Vitex deck with an engineered substructure designed for the wind exposure, capped with frameless glass balustrade so nothing interrupts the line of sight to the surf. The substructure was sized up from standard residential spec to handle the lateral loads from the prevailing westerly.

Stainless fixings throughout — anything less and the salt would have it eaten inside five years.
