Retaining Wall & Pool Fencing

Rangitahi Peninsula, Raglan — Completed November 2024

The project

A new pool installation on a sloped Rangitahi section meant retaining and fencing had to be designed together. The slope needed to be terraced before the pool could go in, and the fencing had to comply with NZ Building Code clause F9 for pool safety.

We worked with the engineer on three stepped timber retaining walls — two over the 1.5m consented threshold — to create the platform for the pool. The pool fencing is frameless glass with a self-closing timber gate; the gate hardware and latch heights are specifically chosen to meet F9.

The whole job was sequenced so the homeowner had use of the rest of the section throughout the build — no muddy site bisecting their lawn for three months.
